The story

Mike Facchini walked into a mortgage office as an intern in 2001. He is still here — now running Team Facchini as a Branch Manager with Fairway Home Mortgage in Chicago.

Two decades covers a lot of market: the easy years, the crash, the refinance boom, the rate run-up, and whatever this month is. That history is the point. When a first-time buyer asks whether now is a bad time, Mike has an actual answer — because he has closed loans in every version of “now” since the flip phone.

Along the way he built a reputation for the files other lenders avoid: two-flats and three-flats with rental income, co-ops, renovation loans, self-employed borrowers with complicated returns. He has also been an investor, a developer and a property manager himself, so the advice comes from both sides of the table. Fairway has recognized the results with its Chairman’s Club, and Scotsman Guide has ranked him among the top 1% of originators nationally.

Today Mike and Team Facchini work with buyers across Chicago and the collar counties — first-time buyers, move-up families, single-family homes through four-unit buildings — from Fairway Home Mortgage’s River North office, and he is licensed in eight states for the clients who leave. Off the clock it is trips to Italy, snowboarding, guitar, pickleball and making pizza, and he gives his time to Fairway’s American Warrior Initiative supporting veterans.

why should we pick you over the bank's online thing?
Because at 8 PM on offer night, the online thing doesn't call the listing agent for you. I do. 📞

How Mike works

01

Experience you can borrow

Twenty-plus years, every rate cycle since 2001, and files most lenders turn away — two-flats, co-ops, renovation, self-employed. Mike has seen your scenario before.

02

Plain English only

Every term, every trade-off, every number explained simply. If Mike can't explain it in a sentence, he doesn't ask you to sign it.

03

Honesty over closings

If waiting is the better move, Mike says so. Long-term trust beats a short-term commission — every time.
